LIMA — A St. Marys man will spend up to four years in prison for robbing, assaulting and abducting a female acquaintance during what was described in court Wednesday as a drug-fueled escapade.
Tyler Paxson, who pleaded guilty in December to charges connected with that incident, had earlier this month written a letter to Allen County Common Pleas Court Judge Jeffrey Reed requesting to withdraw his guilty plea. But, following a lengthy delay prior to Paxson’s scheduled sentencing hearing Wednesday morning, the defendant agreed to proceed with sentencing.
Paxson, 23, was indicted by the September 2018 session of the grand jury on charges of kidnapping, a first-degree felony; robbery, a felony of the second degree; and abduction, a felony of the third degree. Allen County prosecutors agreed to dismiss the kidnapping charge in exchange for Paxson’s guilty pleas to the remaining counts, and Paxson accepted that deal.
