LIMA — A 32-year-old Lima man was taken into custody late Tuesday night in connection with an apparent murder on South Baxter Street.
According to a statement issued by the Lima Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 11:27 p.m. to 420 S. Baxter St. in reference to a shooting. Upon their arrival, police found the body of Sam McLaurin, 53, deceased in the driveway of the residence. The preliminary cause of death was said to be gunshot wounds.
Taken into custody as a person of interest was Paul Curtis. Police said he was located several blocks away from the crime scene and has preliminarily been charged with suspicion of murder. He is currently housed in the Allen County jail.
