LIMA — Prosecutors on Monday made an offer that a Lima man decided he could refuse, at least for the time being.
Assistant Allen County Prosecuting Attorney Kenneth Sturgill went on the official record in Allen County Common Pleas Court to offer a plea deal to Kiarris Laws, 27, of Lima, that could shave decades off Laws’ potential prison sentence. The defendant opted to reject the deal but has until June 14 to reconsider.
Laws was indicted in January by an Allen County grand jury on one count of aggravated robbery with a firearm specification and a specification as a repeat offender, a first-degree felony. Other charges in the indictment were three counts of kidnapping, first-degree felonies with specifications for the use of firearms and for being a repeat offender; and one count of having weapons under disability, a third-degree felony.
